There is a genre of music known as French pop music. French pop music and Chanson both have their place in the french culture. What started out as two distinctive forms of music eventually combined together and became the sound we hear today. Singers, who came from francophone countries, such as Belgium, Haiti and France mostly did this style of music. Francophone means that their national language is French.
Brigitte Bardot is normally associated with film and has graced the French Cinema for several decades. However, aside from being a world-renowned film actor and ballet dancer she also recorded a number of songs after retiring from film in 1973.
