Parenting Tips From a Real Parents Point of View
From the time they are born until the day they are off to college, you learn a whole lot about being a parent. Being a parent myself to a smart and witty little girl have brought a couple of words from the dictionary to my everyday life as a parent. Although love and caring are amongst the important words in my dictionary, I would also have to say that patience and compromise follows. Starting from the first year they are born, you start to appreciate everyone who gave you lots and lots of pampers and baby wipes on your baby shower. When I had my baby shower, 75% of my gifts where diapers and baby wipes. I had no clue as to why everyone wanted me to have so many diapers and baby wipes. When my daughter was born, I thanked each and everyone one of them because they came quite in handy!
The months past and you get used to cleaning diapers, getting up in the middle of the night for feeding time and cleaning up throw ups from your favorite blouse. Many parents see the first few years being the toughest but not in my case. The last few years have been a little tough. If kids where given the choice to choose what foods they wanted, you will only see in the kitchen cookies, McDonald's happy meals and ice cream. But we as parents have to lead them into eating more healthier meals. Try to pay close attention to the meals that they do enjoy and bring in similar foods into the mix. For example, my daughter was and still is a picky eater. She does not like anything that is different then what she is used to. Since she loves waffles, I started to bring into her breakfast meals pancakes and eventually slide in the French Toast. French toast was a big one since she did not enjoy eating eggs with its egg yolk and god forbid if it had a piece of toast along with it! A fun way I have learned of getting children to eat there food is letting them help you in the kitchen. Children love to imitate their parents. Having your children helping you prepare the meals will make them feel grown up and more connected to you. They will love to taste what they have created and get the whole family to taste it as well. Just make sure to never let your kids handle any sharp knives.
Getting your kids to pick up after themselves can be considered "torture" for your kids and for yourself. Purchasing colorful and cool clothes hangers is just one way of getting kids to put away their clothes in the now cool looking closet. Toy boxes and cool storage boxes can get children into putting away their toys. A fun way I have discovered to get my daughter into cleaning up her bedroom is creating a great looking bedroom. Sit in front of the computer together and search for a great bedding set online. Always make sure it is an online store that looks trusting. When choosing children's bedding, I recommend duvet covers. Duvet covers keep their bedroom looking and smelling clean and fresh. Create a cool retro-modern theme and purchase a colorful polka dot duvet cover set along with some blowup coaches and chairs and polka dot wall stickers. There are a wide choice of duvet covers to choose from online, choose the one that catches your child's eyes and work around it. I can promise you that your child will love his or her cool new room and will love keeping it clean enough to show it off to their friends and family.
